There will be three entry categories Elementary, Middle School & High
School, with different requirements for each.
Students may choose to write an essay about the following topics:
A local person
Industry in Athol
Immigration to Athol
A local building or historical place
Life in Athol
Cash prizes will be awarded on October 1st at the Society's second
annual Children's Day.
Details will be handed out in the local schools. Athol residents who
are home schooled or travel out of town for school can obtain rules
and guidelines for the contest by clicking here.
Acceptable Essay Topics:
Topic One: Local person, organization, place or building
This essay can be about any person (living or deceased), structure or a point
of interest.
Topic Two: Industry in the Town of Athol
This essay can be written about any past or present industry or business
venture that is/was located in the Town of Athol.
Topic Three: Immigration to the Town of Athol
This essay can is to be written about the struggles, opportunities and/or
experiences of immigrants who came to the Town of Athol from foreign lands.
Topic Four: Life in Athol
This essay can be about growing up in Athol, everyday life in the early days,
the history of the town.
